Anti Orbital Assault Defense System - AOADS 1017
The AOADS 1017 traces its design all the way back to Pre Astro (Terran) AA guns and is used in a similar role.
Primarily to provide fast deployable, highly mobile weapon systems to defend a planet against Oribital Assaults. The system saw extensive use during the Y'All war and has been constantly upgraded. While only few other known societies deploy infantry and infantry support like the Union does, the potential of encountering a society that does is not to be ignored. The AOADS is a relative cheap and easy to use system. Many planetary defense forces maintain combat ready AOADS regiments.
The AOADS 1017 consists of dual rapid fire Uranium slug cannons (36mm) on a shielded Terrax type all environment flyer.
It has a crew of two but can also be deployed under autonomus robotic mode.
A standard AOAD unit consists of 100 AOADS 1017 and 60 Heavy Pounders.
The system is not space flight capable.
