Automated Scan and Check Buoy
ASCBs are technically highy advanced robots. Nicknamed by friends and enemies alike as "Union Eggs " these 455 m eggshaped systems are deployed many hundred million times along the Union Borders in M-0 and Andromeda [1]
These devices monitor space traffic within a range of 500 light years, have GalNet and GalCom connections and are armed. These systems are made to last, and have an expected service life of 2000-2500 years.
Connected to the Border Control network, they report all spatial traffic activit within their scan range.
Objects are hailed and checked for Union transponder codes. A negative scan and check result initiates a step by step protocol:
- -Automated Hail
- -Request to identify
- - If communication remains unanswer, the next Checkpoint is informed and further investigative steps are conducted
- -If object is hostile or identified as an object belonging to a CL - 5 society, the ASCBs are permitted to open fire.
