Data Head is a common term describing a person with a PDD implant. There are many different levels and models of PDD Implants available. (Some of which are even illegal.) The technology of “wet-linking” technology directly to the brain has been explored on Earth even before the Ascent. Other societies and cultures like the Saresii and the Kermac extensively use mind - technology interfaces for a very long time. Data Jacks, Cyber Jocks and GalNet Zombs were all the rage in the early period of United Earth / Union History but has strongly declined. Currently only one in about 10,000 Union Citizens are Data Head Connected. Xeno Emotion Implanting and Emotion guided mind movies are also forms of entertainment that have seen their peak long ago. Main reason is that, colonists and settlers of new worlds had literally other things on their minds than to be bombarded by music and entertainment all day long. Communication was reduced to necessary communication and the senseless babble of mindless idiots that was so prevalent in the early 21st century subsided. The first Intergalactic wars and the realization that there were bigger and stronger forces out there, rekindled the human ability for common sense and practical approaches. With the grow and development of the Union, Virtual Immersion and Avatar tech supplanted the Emotion Mind Movies . It should be noted that the number of Data Heads increases on the core worlds, while they are virtually non existent on those still developing.
Modern Data Head Systems connect the Wearer with GalNet, allow Ocular and acoustic recording and displaying.
