General term describing a trade language that developed over the millennia between trading and interacting space traveling societies of the Milky Way Galaxy . Squak is the most common language used in Free Space .
Linguistic scholars studying Squak can find traces of hundreds of different languages, cultural references and gestures. There is no common accepted way of writing it, even though Squak Scrib designed by a Kartanian Scholar about 500 years ago, is getting more popular and can be seen on signs and info prints mostly around Free Space.
There are no commonly accepted ways of pronouncing certain words or phrases, even though Squak developed naturally and can be spoken and pronounced by almost any acoustic communicating species.
Many concepts are described by example rather than words. i.E: Color and color names do not exist ( Black is = looks like space without stars "Hthrkith-Na")
