Inter City Transporter (ICT, pronounced “ice tea”) – A network of slide belts and surface vehicles for use in urban areas where using fliers or skimmers is impracticable or illegal.
Virtually every non-primitive urban area of 10,000 or more in the Union runs an ICT. In most Megacities and on planets such as Pluribus, this is the main method of local travel other than taxis or similar vehicles. The ratio of slide belts to surface vehicles varies by location and local circumstances (more belts in large or enclosed cities.)
Running in set routes and on schedules, this system is free to Union Citizens, but fees are often charged for Union Residents and Non-Cits. Because of routing and scheduling, ICT use may be anywhere from very practical to incredibly inconvenient.
