Killer Moss is the common name for several species of small plants that live on Green Hell and are among the first plants to grow on the surface of exposed rocks, eventually breaking them down into soil.
Like most life forms native[1] to Green Hell, Killer Moss has deadly defenses. The leaves and roots are toxic, with nodules attached to the roots producing a one of the ten most corrosive bio-acids known to the Union.
Once a year, they produce spores which contain a neurotoxin with effects similar to the neurotoxin produced by Fire Nettle Bushes although only half as potent. The spores can be used to produce medication to treat Psionic diseases and afflictions.
There are two kinds of Killer Moss on Green Hell. The above described variety and the first discovered kind and the symbiont Killer Moss kind where Killer Moss and a local slug combine into a new symbiotic life form which is visually not distingusihable from regular Killer Moss.
The symbiont however is mobile and can be quite fast over short distances. it is also know to "scream" when stepped upon or otherwise disturbed. The slug is a flesh eater and uses the Mosses deadly toxins while it provides and shares the protein rich food source it is able to digest. Such a Killer Moss slug killed a local Shuttle pilot working for a Slide Belt Service Company only recently.
