While the contributions and impact of John McEnroe are undeniable, there is also a controversial part. He was accused by Admiral Stahl to be corrupt and to use his power to basically create the conditions that led to the Gene Clone Revolt.
While Enroe and his company was not the only company doing the Cloning, the immorality and the exploitation of sentient beings was part of the court case against Enroe.
At first it appeared that the Assembly appointed court would whitewash the entire case, mostly due to the fact that Enroe was part of the Union building efforts and his dedication and contribution was undeniably fundamental to Union success.
However Stahl argued that no one could be above the law. Stahl said : Every being, small, big,female, male, human, immortal or anything else must be responsible to the same law or the whole Union means nothing.
Enroe was convicted. John Enroe not only accepted the verdict but agreed and asked for a gun and an hour alone. John McEnroe shot himself and left a note where he apologized to the Clone slaves and to the Union as a whole and that he agreed, that the Union must stand on a firm foundation of laws.
His contributions are monumental nevertheless: It was his suggestions that led to the Assembly and the form of state the New Union should take.
It was under his presidency that the Assembly first convened and ratified the "Assembly Book of Conduct". A document that codifies Assembly business and is followed with few amendments to this day.
