Exobiology

The Green Hell Question is why Green Hell's biosphere is so different from all others known by the Union.

Most biospheres can trace all life native to them to one source[1].

While there has been years of study on hundreds of species on Green Hell, that study has only reinforced the concept that a lot more is not known about the life forms native to that planet than is known[2].

There are two parts to the Green Hell Question.

  • Why does it appear to be so many diverse independent evolutionary threads?
  • What caused the majority of those evolutionary processes to result in dangerous to very dangerous lifeforms?

It's thought that discovering the answer to those two questions will bring great advances in the biological sciences.

Notes[]

  1. In all the biospheres studied by Union Scientists there have been just under one hundred where all native life has been traced to two natural sources and one case that has four (none have been discovered with only three sources).
  2. One guess is that less than 10% of the species existing within 50 kilometeres of Ant Hill have been studied by biologists.  Outside that radius, and not counting those life forms that have been studied within 50 Km of Ant Hill the numbers range from 1 in 109 to 1 in 1020.
