Volund Dies
This is the title of a Chapter in Book: "Eric Olafson, Neo Viking". It tells how Harkun andIsegrim set a trap for their own father and murder him at the bottom of the stairs to the Submarine Den .
Volund hears that Isegrim his firstborn is meeting with Gretel Hemstaad while he has a pregnant wife. Volund fears if Erik Gustav Ragnarsson hears about it, the deal that restored and saved the Olafson Clan from oblivion and fading into nothingness.

Volund is the Clan Chief of the Olafson Clan at that time. Isegrim is his legitime First Born . Harkun is the illigimate son Volund had with a prostitute named Hildigunn.
Volund doesn't know Harkun exists.
Officially prostitution is prohibited by the Elders, but it still happens and everyone especially the Elders turn a blind eye on it, as some of them are also customers.
Harkun is, according to Nilfeheim traditions (Book of Traditions is the law) not an Olafson and has no rights. He can not inherit or claim to be an Olafson, neither can he inherit or claim rights to the birth order.
A Clan son and the sequence of birth (First Born etc) must be born of a woman married to the Nilfeheim man. But a Clan chief can recognize anyone as a member of the Clan and give to this person whatever he chooses.
Harkuns dream and reward is to get the then unoccupied Olafson Burg and raise his own clan.
Anyone owning a Burg can ask the Elders to be recognized as Clan Chief.
Murder Investigation[]
While Volund was a Union Citizen and anyone involved could have asked for a Union Police investigation (Murder on an Union Citizen is a Union felony and trumps local laws, even the Nilfeheim exception. But is has never been done.
The person requesting the Investigation would be instantly exiled and no longer part of the Nilfeheim society.
Nilfeheim did not have a police at that time and all inquests were carried out by members of the Circle of Elders. Whatever they declared was to be the outcome of the investigation.
